The tide is turning.

Thanks in part to our tenacity, Dalton is now officially taking a harder line against smartphones. They are explicitly recommending the following: 

• No phones before 6th grade 

• Featureless phones if any phone is required at all

• No smartphones before HS

• No social media before age 16

• No group texting/chatting until age 13

As you know, our efforts had previously led to the introduction of lockable Yondr bags starting in 5th grade and stricter language in the school’s handbook.

These latest statements are big wins and greater momentum for concerned parents like us.

Please consider joining other 3rd-grade Dalton* parents by signing our commitment and by waiting as long as possible to get your kid a smartphone. If you decide to get your child a phone, please choose a “featureless” phone instead of an internet-connected smartphone, at least through the end of middle school.
